Spotlight On: Evaluation & Treatment of Eating Disorders
Eating disorders are complex conditions that may often be mistaken for other health issues.
Diagnosis can be challenging due to comorbidities, ambiguous symptoms and the influence of cultural contexts. At Reach Aut, we understand these complexities and address them through a multidisciplinary approach.
Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Bing Eating Disorder, Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder, PICA and beyond: in a world that often – mistakenly – reduce them to just the former two, eating disorders are on the rise.
Global Eating Disorders Prevalence more than doubled between 2000 and 2018, and 9% of the US american population experiences an eating disorder, or has experienced them at some point in their lives.
The diagnosis of eating and nutrition disorders is often complicated by ambiguous symptoms (such as sudden weight loss, lack of appetite, weakness, fatigue) that may be confused with signs of other physical illness. Moreover, some disorders may remain hidden due to societal toxic behaviors that glorify thinness and promote problematic weight control strategies.
At Reach Aut, we recognize the fundamental importance of timely diagnosis and treatment of eating disorders, and we approach them through a multidisciplinary model that values the collaborative work of doctors, psychologists and nutritionists / dieticians.
Our Nutrition services, avaiable in selected Centers across Europe, range from a comprehensive evaluation & treatment of eating disorders to dietary and weight management counseling, supporting the development of an healthy relationship with food both in adults and children.
The health professionals at Reach Aut are all trained to work in English, and are equipped to understand the influence of diverse cultural contexts and the intricate connections between food, body, mind, and emotions.
